Fell Information

Height: 964m / 3,162ft
Grid Ref: NY207065
Lists: FRCC (002) Wainwright (S.02)
'Sca Fell' (two words) on OS maps. Although slightly lower than Scafell Pike it is regarded by many as a grander mountain, its certainly less crowded! It is normally ascended from:
- Wasdale Head - via Lord's Rake (considered dangerous because of rock fall) or Green How
- Eskdale - long route whichever way you go - via Upper Eskdale, Great Moss and Foxes Tarn or via Slight Side
Scafell and Scafell Pike are joined via Mickledore and three routes are available between the two fells:
- Broad Stand - A route for experienced scamblers / climbers
- Lord's Rake - see comments above
- Foxes Tarn - This is the easiest route but required the most re-ascent
