Leaving Burnbanks
Burnbanks was built to accommodate the workers on the Haweswater dam. Today it felt a bit of a ghost village with many of the prefab houses boarded up and empty

One of the TV aerials above the village

Haweswater Dam

...and zooming in

Anne trying, and failing, to push over a perched boulder

Looking east to Knipescar Common. The Pennines beyond were lost in cloud

Prehistoric round cairn

The small tarn near the cairn

Haweswater from the top of Four Stones Hill

..and the north east ridge of High Raise from the same spot

Haweswater from the two standing stones
Where have the other two gone?

Fordingdale Bottom

Measand Beck

Measand Beck

Looking towards the cloudy head of Mardale from Haweswater's shore

..and east towards the dam
Note how the walls just stop. Originally they would have carried on down into the now flooded valley
