About

Welcome to my Fellwandering website (previously called Andrew Leaney's Lakeland Fells, launched 22 November 2001).

The Lake District National Park (Lakeland) is in the county of Cumbria in north west England and is for many, including myself, one of the most beautiful places in the World. The guidebooks of Alfred Wainwright (AW) inspire me to explore the Lakeland Fells. This site is a record of my wanderings.

The Lakeland fells are wonderful places to explore, there is always something new to discover as well as old favourites to revisit. There are very few wrong ways to go, just easier and harder options and common and less common routes to follow and places to visit. Over time I hope to continue to add more content to show off the area, covering the “standard” as well as the less obvious routes, fells and tarns.

In recent years I have also started to explore the North Pennines. These fells get far fewer visitors than the Lakes and give a great sense of remoteness. It is possible to walk for hours without meeting anyone!

Enjoy the views and happy fellwandering!

Andrew
